The Finance Director – Business Control will serve as a strategic finance partner to the management team, with a strong focus on supporting business decision-making through robust management reporting and analytics. This role is designed for a high-potential finance leader who, working alongside a peer focussed on internal operational finance, will concentrate on commercial finance, value creation and M&A support, playing an integral role in the firm's growth and investment strategy.
Your Responsibilities
Strategic Business Partnering & Reporting
- Act as a key advisor to the partnership, translating financial data into actionable business insights to drive value creation and support strategic decisions.
- Lead the design and implementation of management reporting frameworks, KPIs, and dashboards that enable clear, data-driven decision-making for both management and shareholders.
- Develop and oversee forecasting, budgeting, and scenario planning processes in collaboration with the Manager Financial Control and partners.
Business Insights & Growth Initiatives
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify growth opportunities, evaluate new markets, and support business development and partnership decisions.
- Proactively challenge assumptions and provide recommendations to improve profitability and return on investment.
Working Capital & Cash Flow
- Oversee working capital management, ensuring optimal liquidity and efficient cash cycle management to support ongoing operations and investments.
M&A and Corporate Finance
- Lead and support all phases of M&A projects, including opportunity evaluation, financial due diligence, valuation, deal structuring, and post-merger integration.
- Manage data rooms, coordinate with external advisors, and ensure all financial aspects of transactions are thoroughly analysed and aligned with business objectives.
Governance, Compliance & Data Integrity
- Ensure the integrity of financial data and compliance with relevant regulations and internal controls.
- Lead or support finance transformation and process improvement initiatives as the firm scales.
Team Leadership & Development
- Build strong relationships across departments (Fund Management, Accounting, Reporting, and Investment teams) to ensure alignment and effective execution of strategic initiatives.
- Lead and mentor cross-functional teams, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
Your profile
Education & Certifications
- Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (MBA or CFA preferred).
- Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent) are highly regarded.
Experience
- Minimum 8 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within private equity, investment, or asset management environments.
- Demonstrated success in leading M&A transactions (buy-side/sell-side), including due diligence, financial modeling, and integration.
- Experience in fast-growth, international, or matrixed organizations is highly desirable.
Technical & Analytical Skills
- Advanced financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance standards relevant to private equity structures.
- Proficiency with financial systems, advanced Excel, and business intelligence tools.
Leadership & Interpersonal Skills
- Proven ability to influence, challenge, and partner with senior stakeholders and management.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial concepts for non-financial audiences.
- Collaborative, hands-on, and adaptable, with a track record of building trust and credibility across diverse teams.
