Job Summary:
The Mechanical Commissioning Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing mechanical commissioning activities to ensure all systems and equipment are installed, tested, and operational in compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and performance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement detailed commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules for mechanical systems.
- Lead pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for mechanical equipment, including pumps, compressors, piping systems, HVAC units, tanks, and valves.
- Perform inspections, functional tests, and performance evaluations to verify compliance with design specifications and operational standards.
- Collaborate with construction, QA/QC, electrical, and instrumentation teams to ensure seamless commissioning readiness.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during start-up, commissioning, and initial operation phases.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including test reports, punch lists, and commissioning records.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, industry regulations, and environmental standards.
- Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors for technical support and issue resolution.
- Support the handover process and provide operational assistance to the client’s team post-commissioning.
Qualifications & Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical commissioning, preferably in industrial, oil & gas, power plants, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical commissioning processes, testing methodologies, and performance validation.
- Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs, PFDs, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
- Familiarity with international standards (e.g., ASME, API, ISO) and best practices in commissioning.
- Experience with commissioning software/tools and data analysis.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional coordination.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and meet project deadlines.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and technical report writing.
Preferred Certifications (Advantageous):
- Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) or similar accreditation.
- OSHA or other safety certifications.
