Role Overview:
The Senior Director of Brand Marketing at the Maison KARL LAGERFELD reports into the SVP Marketing and leads the development and implementation of the overarching global brand marketing strategy in alignment with the company’s strategic objectives. This role is a pivotal connector and lead between all marketing channels and other business units, including Sales, Merchandising, Retail, Ecom, and Product. The scope of this role oversees Brand and Retail and digital marketing channels, and works hand in hand with other channel leads to ensure a consistent brand message. This role needs to develop and leverage a creative vision and turn this into key strategic objectives whilst staying close to the relevant business units.
The Senior Director of Brand Marketing will oversee a team of 10+ professionals, including three direct reports, ensuring strong leadership, strategic alignment, and operational excellence across all initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the entire marketing cycle, starting from Go-To-Market launch to final B2C execution.
- Responsible for the brand and retail marketing strategy for all global markets.
- Lead the development and execution of integrated brand marketing strategies and activation plans to drive brand awareness, engagement, conversion, and loyalty.
- Responsible for the planning of high-impact brand activations, including events, partnerships, sponsorships, and experiential marketing initiatives, to create memorable brand experiences, foster emotional connections with consumers, and oversee the execution of such.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Creative, Product, Retail, Sales, PR, Merchandising & Planning, and Digital Marketing, to ensure alignment and integration of brand marketing efforts across all channels and touchpoints.
- Ensure that cross-channel strategies align with the brand vision and actively support broader corporate goals.
- Bridge the gap between strategic brand direction and its operational execution, maintaining consistency, effectiveness, and success.
- Drive innovation and creativity in brand marketing initiatives, exploring new trends, technologies, and emerging platforms to engage audiences and differentiate the Karl Lagerfeld brand in the market.
- Develop and manage marketing budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to maximize ROI and achieve business objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of 10+ marketing professionals, including three direct reports, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners and industry stakeholders to amplify brand reach and drive brand advocacy.
- Monitor and analyze key performance metrics and consumer insights to evaluate the effectiveness of brand marketing initiatives and activations, providing actionable recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Stay on top of industry trends, competitive landscape, and consumer behaviors to inform strategic decision-making and identify new opportunities for brand growth and innovation.
Personal characteristics and qualifications:
- Proven track record of leading product-driven 360 marketing campaigns that support all touchpoints of a global, growing brand.
- At least 8-10 years of experience leading and managing teams in a global marketing environment, ideally within the luxury fashion or retail industry.
- Strong Storytelling and exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong and charismatic leadership personality
- Strong business acumen with a solid understanding of key business metrics and marketing tools, paired with a strong creative mindset.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.
- Excellent networking skills, both within and outside the organization.
- Strong storyteller and presenter, with the ability to advocate and sell-in ideas to senior management.
- Proven leadership experience in a matrix organization.
- Culturally aware and adaptable, comfortable working in diverse environments.
- Confident and professional presence, demonstrating strong negotiation skills.
- Excellent creativity and problem-solving competence.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written), including presentation skills. Another European language is a plus.
