Financial Controller (1.0 FTE)
With headquarters located in Breda (the Netherlands), Vroon employs about 1,400 professionals in offices around the world and on board a diverse fleet of approximately 65 vessels. The Company is active - through various subsidiaries and under different brand names - with a focus on its specialised deepsea fleet of product and high-heat tankers, livestock carriers and emergency response and rescue vessels.
From our Breda office, approximately 100 staff support the Company’s activities.
The Accounting Department provides support to the Company’s Management Companies and shore-based employees worldwide.
What will you do?
In this position, you are responsible for:
- Leading a team of three Accounting Administrators;
- Together with the Accounting Manager, setting Department goals and embedding these in your team;
- Supporting the Accounting Manager with Department planning strategies;
- Motivating, coaching and reviewing team members to ensure set goals, expectations and agreements are met;
- Supervising daily General Ledger, Closing & Reporting transactions and month-end-closing activities, and ensuring these are recorded in a timely and accurate manner, in accordance with IFRS and local GAAP quality standards (or other relevant regulations and guidelines);
- Leading a team of area specialists that works on managing of accounting issues, analysing errors, determining solutions and initiating any necessary corrective action;
- Assisting in preparation of the monthly financial report, analysing and explaining the balances and results;
- Initiating and implementing improvement projects and sharing best practices with your colleagues;
- Assisting with external audits;
- If required, you will support and act as back up to the Accounting Manager.
In this position, you report to the Accounting Manager.

Who are we looking for?
Our preferred candidate has:
- A Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or similar;
- Minimum of five to seven years’ work experience in financial administration or auditing practice;
- Experience in a supervisory position is preferred;
- Experience with data analysis and information provision is an advantage;
- Proactive, ‘can-do’ attitude;
- Ability to collaborate and build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, such as local operational business and business controlling;
- Strong experience with ERP systems and good knowledge of MS D365 is preferred;
- Proficiency in Excel and knowledge of Power BI are an advantage;
- Excellent verbal and written communication and reporting skills in English and Dutch;
- Knowledge of VAT legislation and Dutch GAAP is preferred.
